This isn’t at all surprising if true. Teens are leaving Facebook in droves partly because of their parents being there. Moving to things like Snapchat, Voxer, and Instagram(yes FB owns it). Or Context or whatever messaging service is out there now. Facebook’s constant “change it first and ask for forgiveness later” policy is finally pushing enough people away. Especially when it comes to privacy concerns and teenagers.
This is a very telling sign that FB is very concerned about their future. They should be. Snapchat doesn’t need Facebook, Facebook needs Snapchat…. desperately. Smart move to turn them down if it’s true.
